At this meeting, Senator Donald H. Oliver will discuss diversity in business - We welcome you to join us.
About the speaker:
Senator Oliver has been active in political affairs with the Progressive Conservative Party for more than 40 years. He was summoned to the Senate of Canada by the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, Prime Minister of Canada, on September 7, 1990. Since his arrival in the Senate, he has served as a member of the Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce, and as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Transport and Communications. He is currently Chairman of the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry. Senator Oliver was also Co-chair of the Special Joint Committee on a Code of Conduct for Parliamentarians.
In addition to political appointments, he has been active in business and community life, including positions as Director of AT&T Canada Inc. Advisory Board, Member of the Board of Governors for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, President and Chairman of the Halifax Childrens Aid Society, Director of the National Youth Orchestra, and as Consultant, Advisory and Director of a number of other national and international companies. He was awarded the African-Canadian Achievement Award for Outstanding Achievement in Politics in April 2004. Senator Donald H. Oliver was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia on November 16, 1938.
