Årets kulturtema – AfroPeru i Oslo

On the occasion of the Day of Afro-Peruvian Culture, CAK will hold a chat and performance with Afro-Peruvian artist, writer, journalist, and human rights advocate Monica Carrillo (Peru).

Carrillo has worked for social justice and human rights for Afro-Peruvians, and has extensive work behind her in the areas of sexuality, gender and the African diaspora in the Americas. She is the founder of the organization LUNDU (Center for Afro-Peruvian Studies and Empowerment).

Her body of work is subject of studies in universities of USA, Italy, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and the European Union, and she has given conferences in institutions and universities across the globe, including Harvard and Columbia.

She will perform by her artistic name, ORU (www.oruperu.com) — the Afro-Peruvian activist poet, rapper, and spoken word artist — presenting «POETICS OF REPARATION».

The performance will include video, sound, poetry and live music with Kossa Diomande on congas and jazz bassist Kåre Garnes.
