Chartered flights to throw out asylum seekers

As their countrepart of the E.U, Norwegian authorities plan to charter planes in order to expulsed asylum seekers. the new rule said thar after a rejected application refugees should be out of Norway in 72 hours. Knut Holen, head of the new Police’s Central Alien Unit, said the plan will be put into action as soon as possible.

“The problem is that some receiving countries have a quota system for how many asylum seekers can be returned at one time. They also want returnees delivered to different spots in the country, something which makes charter planes less practical,” Holen said.

The Department has already warned a 48-hour turnaround for rejecting groundless asylum applications. The new plan sets a 72-hour deadline for transport out after rejection, and authorities want effective traffic out in place by the beginning of 2004.
