US will not be shaken from Iraq

President George W. Bush said Monday the United States will not let mounting violence in Iraq affect the campaign to establish democracy in the country.

“We will not be shaken by the thugs and terrorists,” Bush said in a speech here as US troops backed by helicopters battled Shiite radicals in Baghdad and launched an operation in the flashpoint Sunni town of Fallujah, a day after clashes left more than 50 dead.

“These killers don’t have values,” he added, without specifically mentioning any particular Iraqi group or the deaths of 11 .

“A free Iraq will be a major victory in the war on terror. A free Iraq will change the Middle East. A free Iraq will make the world more safe. A free Iraq will make America more secure,” Bush said.
