UN: Pakistan quake help not good enough

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has warned of a second wave of deaths from the Pakistan earthquake unless much more aid is immediately provided.

Mr Annan called for the global relief effort to be stepped up to help three million people made homeless.

Only a fraction of the $312m (2.08 mrd NOK) aid requested by the UN has been pledged.

Pakistan says more than 47,000 people died in areas under its control in the 8 October earthquake.

At least 1,400 others died in Indian-administered Kashmir, officials say.
