How does conflict in the country of origin affect remittance-sending?

Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) welcomes you to a Migration seminar on Thursday 31 March at 12-13:00, held by Senior Researchers Jørgen Carling and Cindy Horst.
‘How does conflict in the country of origin affect remittance-sending?’

Jørgen Carling and Cindy Horst will present a paper with results from “Remittances from Immigrants in Norway”, a project funded by the Research Council of Norway.

The paper, which is written together with Marta Bivand Erdal, examines how conflict in the country of origin interacts with other factors in shaping migrants’
remittance-sending practices. For this purpose, the authors compare the experiences of Somalis and Pakistanis in Norway, drawing upon survey data and
semi-structured interviews with both senders and receivers of remittances.

The seminar will take place Thursday 31 March 12-13:00 at PRIO, Hausmanns gate 7, Oslo
